Install raspbian on a micro sd card:

sudo dd bs=4M if=/path/to/raspbian-image.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 conv=fsync

To enable a headless raspberry pi installation, you can read this post I made.

Install Pimaton dependencies

sudo apt install python-pip libjpeg-dev
pip install -U pip
# To enable GUI:
sudo apt install python-tk python-pil.imagetk
# To enable web sync:
sudo apt install rsync

Install Pimaton

pip install pimaton

Create config file:

cp /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pimaton/assets/default_config.yaml /path/to/myconfig.yaml

See part 3 and part 4 for additional information on configuration.

Then you can try running pimaton to see if it works:

pimaton --config-dir=/path/to/myconfig.yaml # Run pymathon with given config file - should be the "production mode" command.
pimaton --debug # Display all debug messages and use default config file.
pimaton --debug --config-file=/path/to/myconfig.yaml # Display all debug messages and use custom config file.

If you have X installed

In this case, it should be better to disable the screensaver.

Next: Configure pimaton
